Timure is a small but significant Nepalese town located in the district of Rasuwa at an elevation of 1900 metres, just a few kilometres before the Rasuwagadhi border (a Nepal-China Border). Historically, this place was developed as the final resting place and supply point in Nepal for the traveller heading to Tibet via the same border.
At present it is not only used for trades but is also a place where pilgrims heading to the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra by road from Nepal stop by. Usually, they take a break here to have meals, get basic accommodation, and buy last-minute things before they start heading to the border.
Moreover, since the Rasuwagadhi immigration office is situated here and pilgrims must go through an immigration process before leaving or entering Nepal at this border, Timure is crucial, particularly for Yatris travelling to Mount Kailash by drive.
Therefore, in my opinion, while there are other spots to stay, Timure is the most suitable location to "rest and gather" prior to entering Tibet as part of the Kailash Yatra.

Getting to Timure from Kathmandu
Although it can be a challenging drive to Timure because of some off-road sections along the way due to ongoing road construction, the scenic route from Kathmandu will make it worthwhile.

The route goes through Trishuli Bazaar, Dhunche, and Syabrubesi before finally reaching the town of Timure. Covering 124 km along the Trishuli Highway, this journey can take anywhere from 6 to 8 hours.
Talking about ways to reach Timure, a majority of the tourists get to Timure by local bus or shared jeep to Syabrubesi and then take a short jeep ride for the remaining 30–40 minutes.
Besides this, if you are looking for a more comfortable option, there are private jeeps available directly from Kathmandu as well, which is especially useful during the monsoon season when the roads get rough.
Accommodation in Timure : Modest Stays

In Timure, the choice of accommodation mainly is small family-run guesthouses that provide basic but comfortable rooms and a friendly atmosphere. Besides this, these lodges offer home-cooked traditional meals and a homely environment, making them perfect for those who want to experience a local lifestyle in Nepal.
These modest stays, even though they are a little lesser in terms of facilities, are full of life.
In case you like more luxury in the form of facilities like a private washroom, hot shower, and Wi-Fi, the town before Timure, Syabrubesi, has a variety of lodges and hotels you might want to check out.

The only downside of choosing to stay in Syabrubesi during your border crossing is that you will have to ride a few kilometers to the border. And if you arrive late in Timure for the Immigration during the peak kailash yatra season, other yatris who stayed in Timure the night before will be able to get in line at the Immigration office faster than you, making you wait longer.
So in my expert opinion, it is advisable to stay in Timure rather than Syabrubesi.
Final Thoughts
In short, Timure is more than a simple overnight stop; it is the best place to rest before crossing the border. Being the official place of the immigration check and just a short distance from the Rasuwagadhi border, Timure operates as the last, but most important, logistics hub for Tibet-bound travelers and pilgrims heading towards the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
